Shift Your Focus

Valentine’s Day usually focuses on relationships between couples, so anyone who is not a part of a couple may feel slighted.  This year, however, let’s shift our focus to the love that exists within families. More specifically, let’s think about and appreciate the love a caregiver shows to someone in the family who may or may not be a spouse. This short video shows us how a sister loves and cares for her brother. https://videos.aarp.org/detail/video/5312257889001/regina-belle-on-caring-for-her-brother

🙋Your Turn- Who are you loving?

My mother’s experience through Alzheimer’s was nearly a 5-year journey. During that time, I learned how to be a caregiver along with other family members and friends. During that time I kept a journal which I later turned into the book, Learning to Love Olivia: A Daughter’s Journal of Her Mother’s Journey Through Alzheimer’s. This blog will draw on some of that content along with my experiences with other caregivers and will hopefully offer support and encouragement to those who find themselves walking in the same shoes.
